Bethesda has impressed a lot of people over the years. After the release of the very popular Oblivion fans have been aching to play the latest installment of The elder scrolls franchise, Skyrim.
Gameplay: While the game still has some of the stiffness that the series is known for. The combat has been improved with things such as dual-wielding, dual casting, shield bashing and plenty more to help you slay your opponents more quickly and more gruesomely. Skyrim also has a new skill system which works a lot better than the one in Oblivion, basically you are what you play there is no preset classes and the only thing that matter is your race, want to improve your healing? Heal yourself with your strongest spell and level up that skill. While the game still suffers of many glitches, bug and crashes. The problems aren't nearly as big as in recent games. Skyrim has nearly endless quests in fact after 140 hours of playing i still had a hundred hours worth of quests and i also knew i would find new quests and adventures as i was completing the quests i already had. The enemy ai is very stupid considering they only run at you head on with no fear only to fall victim to their own traps which is weird considering a archer can hit me from two miles away.

Graphics: Taking feedback from the game Fallout:new vegas the studio decided to make a new graphics engine called 'The creation engine' while the graphics truly are beautiful, they only look good when seeing areas from afar. If you zoom in on items you are bound to find some horrifying pictures. However the attention to detail is incredible. As you can now zoom in on items and see their graphical deliciousness. From the sharpest sword to the most fragile flowers every item you pick up looks beautiful.

Story: The story of the game is that you are dragonborn which means that you are born with the soul of a dragon and leaves it at that. While the story of the main quest is nice it is not nearly as interesting as many of the other side stories there are in the game. Like finding out the true identity of the Companions or having to choose sides between the Empire and the Stormcloak rebels.
Story score:8
Sound: Bethesda game studios choose to not take a serious approach to the sound design which is noticeable because sword don't make a 'shwing' noise every time you unsheath. The creatures of skyrim make noises you would expect. Cows go moo, dogs bark, Dragons make Godzilla noises. You know the usual but it is done flawlessly. Bethesda heard about the critique about the fact that oblivion only had around 10 voice actors so they hired 70 voice actor many of which are famous. However most of these voice actors only do one 'important' role and the rest of the voice actors voice around 10 different 'common' roles meaning that you are going to hear a lot from the guards that sound like Arnold Schwarznegger.

Verdict: While the game may have its problems. That wont stop it from grabbing the Game of the year award.
